Men are easier to dress up than women, generally. Dress Comfortably

For casual wear, nothing beats the combination of jeans and tee.  But for a less formal occasion, a light jacket paired with a semi-formal shirt and slacks would be appropriate.  For formal evenings, a suit is called for.  For this, it would be good to invest into something that really fits you, especially the suit.  Pay particular attention to the shoulders and sleeve length.

A tank top and low-rise jeans would be well suited for young men up to the late twenties however for those hitting the 40 plus mark and beyond that age must steer away from too trendy clothing.  Class comes with age.  It would be nice to see them in clothes suited for them.  Class comes with age so it would be best to switch to classic type of shirts and khakis.  This perennial pair is a sure winner when you don’t have enough time to look for what to wear or to scout for new outfits.
